Wimbledon enforces ban on Russian flags and denies access to Russian journalists
Wimbledon Bans Russian Flags and Limits Russian Presence at Tournament
In response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Wimbledon has updated its rules for this year's tournament. While Russian athletes will be allowed to compete as neutrals, signs or symbols of support for Russia or Belarus will be prohibited, including flags. The All England Club's CEO, Sally Bolton, announced the changes and added that the tournament will not be aired in Russia or Belarus, and Russian journalists will not be granted access. The rules apply to everyone, including athletes who could face sanctions or expulsion if they promote their country during the tournament. Although Russian players may be required to sign a Code of Conduct, they will not be forced to make a public statement opposing the war in Ukraine..
