"Elderly Woman, 78, Arrested After Making Third Attempt to Rob a Bank"
Police Arrest 78-Year-Old Woman for Bank Theft in Missouri, Third Robbery Attempt
Last week, Bonnie Gooch was caught fleeing Goppert Financial Bank in Pleasant Hill with scattered cash in her Buick Enclave. Wearing gloves, sunglasses, and a face mask, she handed the teller a note asking for $13,000 in small bills, banged on the counter, and demanded the money without counting. Her previous convictions for bank robbery in 1977 and 2020 led to her being charged with one count of stealing from a financial institution and held on a $25,000 bond. Her son had reported her to the police during the 2020 heist, stating that she was "off her rocker" and carrying a BB gun and black wig. While Gooch did not display a weapon this time, her motive and possible health factors remain under investigation, according to Pleasant Hill police Chief Tommy Wright.
