Ekiti NSCDC Parades Six Suspects Involved in Disturbing Assault and Video Posting

Ekiti NSCDC Parades 13 Suspects Arrested for Various Offences Including Assault and Attempted Murder

The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded 13 suspects who were arrested for various offences such as cultism, stealing, cyber stalking, criminal conspiracy, assault, and attempted murder. According to the spokesperson of the Corps in the state, Tolulope Afolabi, the suspects were arrested by the Counter Terrorism Unit of the command.

Among the suspects were six individuals who allegedly stripped and assaulted a 23-year-old lady, Omolola Muda. The suspects were said to have poured pepper into her private parts while filming her, before posting the video online. The victim reported the case of attempted murder and the assault to the NSCDC, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The statement by the NSCDC spokesperson revealed that the suspects had been on the radar of the Counter Terrorism Unit since March 18, 2023. They were apprehended on April 11, 2023, in the Ekute Area of Ado Ekiti. The preliminary investigation showed that the suspects are members of a cult group in the state capital, and their initial mission was to kill the victim and dump her in a pit.

In a related development, the Counter Terrorism Unit also arrested seven students of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, suspected to be members of the Eye Fraternity. They were accused of stealing and destroying the property of Mr. Emmanuel Oyekunle of Oyeban Hotel Junction, along Poly Road. The suspects, who were arrested with some of the stolen goods in their possession, are currently assisting the command to trace other members of the confraternity.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, John Olatunde Fayemi, condemned the actions of the suspects and assured the public that the command will not allow young boys and girls who are supposed to be leaders of tomorrow to destroy the heritage and human dignity of the people with impunity.
