 Oh dear, after Jim announced yesterday that he was leaving Liberia for fear of contacting the deadly Ebola virus, a lot of Nigerians went online and asked that the actor be isolated and monitored for a while soon as he arrives Nigeria in order for him not to spread the virus, in case he carries one. An ‘afraid’ Jim has posted another picture of himself but refused to disclose his location, so that another ‘Isolate war’ won’t arise online, which might cause the government of the country he is presently at, to start ‘looking’ for him. We love Jim btw.

Sprinter Blessing Okagbare just won Gold in the Women's 100m for Nigeria in the Commonwealth Games. She won in a time of 10.85 seconds in a new Games record, making her the second fastest woman of all time in World 100 metres. She beat Jamaica’s  Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart and England’s  Asha Phillip who came second, third and fourth respectively. Blessing becomes the first Nigerian winner of this title since Mary Onyali back in 1994. You go Blessing!

Hamza El Rufai, one of the sons of the former Minister of the FCT & Chieftain of the APC, Nasir El Rufai died this morning July 29th in a car accident. His father took to his Facebook page to announce his passing on. Such a young man. Too sad! May his soul rest in peace.. Amen

Muiscian Lagbaja over the weekend reportedly turned down an offer by the Iyiola Omisore Campaign Organisation to perform at the grand finale rally & reception for Pres. Jonathan scheduled to hold in Osogbo, Osun State, next week. According to The Nation , Lagbaja was approached to entertain supporters of Omisore, the candidate of PDP in the up-coming governorship election in Osun State, but he declined the offer, saying; "Though the court of the land discharged and acquitted you (Omisore) in the murder case against the former Minister of Justice in Nigeria, the late Cicero of Esa-Oke & foremost nationalist, Chief Bola Ige, I have deep-rooted innermost conviction that you are culpable in the death of my mentor and benefactor. If you offer me all the allocation of Osun State during your four-year-tenure peradventure you win (which I seriously doubt), I will not perform for Iyiola Omisore governorship election.”

The Nigeria Police Force just announced that another bomb blast occurred this morning at NNPC mega station along Maiduguri road in Kano state. Continue for a press statement from the police... Today, 28-07-14 at about 10:00am , another suicide bomb went off at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Mega Filling Station at Hotoro Quarter along Maiduguri Road, Kano. A suicide bomber suspected to be a female had slipped into the crowd of citizens buying kerosene at the Station before detonating the explosives. The suicide bomber and three others have been confirmed dead, eight persons are injured and rushed to the Hospital.

Comedian Ernest Essien originally known as Basket mouth has opened up to Vanguard on how he let Bright Okpocha, now famous as ‘Basketmouth keep the name’.Ernest said he was bearing the name but had to change his to MC Miracle to avoid clash of identity..... No, he didn’t steal the name. Sometime in 2000-2001, Basketmouth approached me during one of the Plantashun Boiz’s concert at D Den on Isaac John in Ikeja and he introduced himself to me as ‘Basketmouth’ and told me he heard I was also using the name. I was already an established entertainer then so what I saw was a younger brother from Benin with hunger for success in his eyes. There and then, I asked him if he liked the name and his response was in the affirmative. I told him to keep the name so I changed mine. Most of my friends including my wife did not approve of this. They said I sold my birthright to him. Till date, some of my colleagues still call me MC Did the change in name affect you?
