No fewer than 42 people were yesterday drowned in a boat mishap on River Niger close to Malilli village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger when traders were returning from Malilli Village to Tunga Illo village, after the day’s market. The boat which had over 150 passengers capsized midway and drowned 42 people, while 100 others were missing. Local divers helped in recovering the corpses and are still looking for more.  The Secretary to the State Government who confirmed the incident said; ''We believe that the boat was overloaded because the boat’s capacity was put at 60 passengers, but over 150 passengers were said to be on board during the incident. The debris in the swollen river may also have been responsible for the incident'' The recovered corpses would be given a mass burial close to the river bank, and neighboring villages have also been alerted to look out for floating corpses.

The 2013 Miss World pageant held today Saturday September 28th at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia. Miss Philippines Megan Young (pictured left) beat 126 other contestants to win Miss World 2013. Miss France Marine Lorp helin was named runner-up, while Miss Ghana Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter  came third.

A Palestinian man tied a mouse up by its four limbs and posted a photograph of it on Facebook after the rodent ate some of his cash, Gulf News reported.... The Gaza man, whose name wasn’t reported, said he had hidden his weekly salary in his closet but found that a mouse had eaten three of the banknotes worth a total of $170. He then caught the mouse, strung it by each of its four limbs and posted a photograph of the rodent, Gulf News said. The post received several comments from other Internet users, including one who joked that the matter should be brought before the U.N. General Assembly and the Security Council, which should act to release the mouse.

A 22 year old Chinese man named Xiaolian has had a new nose grown on his forehead after loosing his original nose in a car accident. Xiaolian had the treatment to create a replacement for his original nose which was infected and deformed following the accident in 2012 . He actually left his damaged nose unattended to after the accident which led to the infection and eventual deformity, leaving the surgeons unable to repair it. Surgeons in China were left with no option than to create another nose for the man to breathe properly and then transplant it to the original place. The nose was created by placing a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian’s forehead. This was cut into the shape of a nose and was supported by cartilage taken from the man’s ribs. Continue... Surgeons say that the nose has developed well and that the transplant surgery will be carried out soon.
