"Egypt Sets Tough Conditions for Nigeria to Cross Border Amid Sudan Crisis"
Hundreds of Nigerian students evacuated from Sudan have been left stranded at the Egyptian border due to stringent conditions imposed by the Egyptian authorities. The students have been waiting for three days, but the border remains closed. According to the Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Egyptian authorities have demanded that all 637 Nigerians be cleared before they can be allowed to enter Egypt. The Federal Government may move the students to Port Sudan for evacuation if Egypt continues to delay. The Nigerian Ambassador to Egypt, Nura Rimi, has communicated the conditions and guidelines for the evacuation, which include providing details and a schedule of the aircraft, capacity of the aircraft, a strong pledge to convey the citizens directly to the designated airport, a comprehensive list of the evacuees with passport numbers, valid travel documents, the presence of Nigerian government officials at the points of embarkation, and standby buses that will immediately convey them to the airport.
