Pope Francis, who is currently on a state visit to Turkey, joined Muslim faithfuls in Istanbul to pray at the Grand Mufti of Istanbul, Istanbul Blue Mosque yesterday. The Pope stood with his head bowed and hands clasped in front of him in 2-minutes of silent prayer inside the 17th-century Sultan Ahmet mosque, aiming to show respect for Islam and encourage stronger ties between the two faiths.

Punch is reporting that 63 senators as of yesterday Thursday November 27th have signed up to the plan to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan in the upper legislative chamber.  They reported that one of the arrowheads of the move to remove Jonathan in the Senate showed one of their correspondents the list containing the signatures of the senators. A source told the paper that 8 PDP senators were among the signatories to the planned impeachment notice. There are 109 members in the Senate.  From Punch

A 54 year old Chinese businessman Xiong Shuihua did something amazing for the community where he grew up in Xinyu, Southern China. He paid to bulldoze all the wooden huts in the area then spent millions replacing them with an estate of luxury flats for the residents. In total, he housed 72 families to repay them for their kindness towards him while he was growing up. He's also giving villas costing about £4m pounds to another 18 families who were particularly kind to him. In addition, elderly and low paid residents will also be given three meals a day for free.

The doctors at the Brazilian hospital where Brazilian football legend Pele is being treated for kidney disease say his condition is improving. According to local media reports, the 74 year old has been in intensive care unit since Monday Nov. 24th because of a urinary infection he got after having surgery to remove kidney stones on November 13th. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery as he's currently breathing normally without any support.

A judge in a London High Court ruled that the American wife of a British Tycoon be given $530m in a divorce payout. This is considered to be the biggest divorce settlement so far in British history. The estranged wife of finance tycoon Christopher Hohn will receive an equivalent of N96 billion. The judge awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn $493 million in cash and the rest in the form of a property in Connecticut and adjustments to her share of a pension. A full judgment will be published in December, but the figures were cited during a court hearing yesterday November 27.   

Afrobeat king, Femi Kuti says he recently found out that two out of the 5 children he always thought were his, weren't. In an interview with Encomium mag, Femi said a DNA test conducted on a boy and a girl named Tosin and Dupe who were born after his first son, Made, showed he's not their biological father. "I did a DNA test and was told two of the children are not mine. The first two (after Made), a boy and a girl. It is very serious. I never knew somebody could give you what is not yours. I’ve three boys now. I can’t father children I was tricked to believe I am their father,” he said Femi says he has since returned the children to their mothers.

A 19 year old Florida man Pascal Kaufmann (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly raping and beating his 3 year old step-daughter to death, Charlie Brame died in hospital on Monday Nov. 24th. Police say she died from severe brain trauma & had signs of recent 'sexual & aggravated abuse' According to Orlando Sentinel, the little girl was rushed to the hospital after Kaufmann reported she'd stopped moving at their home on Saturday November 22nd. When paramedics arrived at the home, the little girl was struggling to breathe, with bruises covering her back and head.

The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved the purchase of N9.2bn worth of cooking stoves and ‘wonder bags’ for rural women under the National Clean Cooking Scheme. Speaking with state house correspondence after the FEC meeting, the Supervising Minister of Information, Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed said the scheme which is a federal government initiative, is geared towards reducing the use of firewood among rural women in Nigeria.

This occured yesterday along the Njaba/Owerri road. Eye witnesses say the accident occurred due to tyre burst. The driver was said to be on top speed and lost control of his vehicle when a tyre burst. Fortunately he was alone and he survived the accident and some good Samaritans rushed him to the hospital.

Twin brother Jeromme and Jarelle beat 150,000-1 odds to become dads on the same day at the same hospital by the same midwife after their partners gave birth on Monday November 24th. And they both had baby boys. According to  UK Mirror , the twins were initially shocked when told their partners had the same due date of Nov. 26, but neither believed they would both be celebrating on that date. But remarkably, the pair became fathers within a few hours of each other when their sons were born at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton in the early hours of Monday.

Unlike many title holders, the Alake of Egbaland HRH Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo is married to only one woman, Olori Tokunbo, and they have been married for 43 years. They say he's the only long serving Oba in this country with only one wife. He became Alake of Egbaland in 2005. The Oba revealed recently at a wedding where he was the chairman that he still shares the same bed with his wife and mother of his children, this was after he praised her for being an incredible partner. He said they have a strong bond and he never had the need to marry another woman.
